How we make our content
The Kidney guide has to be something you can trust. This page says who writes it, what it rests on, how we check and correct it, and how to tell us if something is wrong.

Who is behind it
The content on nyrami.com is made by the Nyrami editorial team at Avia Technologies AS (organisation number 931 645 900) in Steinkjer, Norway. Nyrami was started by a family that has lived with kidney disease for more than twenty years, and we write for people living with the disease, for those close to them and for people at risk.
What we rest on
We only write what we find support for in professional sources, and the sources are listed with links at the bottom of every guide, so you can check them yourself. These are the sources we use most:
- The Norwegian Directorate of Health's national guideline for chronic kidney disease, and Helsenorge
- KDIGO, the international kidney disease guidelines (2024)
- The Norwegian Renal Registry and the Directorate of Health's figures for dialysis and transplantation
- The Norwegian Food Composition Table (Matvaretabellen)
- Norsk helseinformatikk (NHI), Metodebok and the Norwegian medical encyclopaedia (Store medisinske leksikon)
- Peer-reviewed studies, when a guideline does not answer the question
How we write a guide
We start from the questions people actually ask, and answer them first. Laboratory values are given in figures with units, as they appear on your test results. Where the advice differs by stage, on dialysis or after a transplant, we say so.
The guides are written for adults. Children, pregnant women and people with other conditions may need different advice, and their doctor should decide.
Medical review
We want every guide to be read by a health professional with knowledge of kidney disease. When a guide has been medically reviewed, the reviewer's name, title and the date appear at the top of the guide.
If no name is shown, the guide has been checked against its sources by the editorial team, but has not yet been reviewed by a health professional.
Updates
Every guide shows when it was published and when it was last changed. We go through the guides when guidelines, reference values or the food composition table change, as we did when Norwegian laboratories adopted the EKFC equation for eGFR.
When something is wrong
If you see something wrong, out of date or unclear, we want to hear about it. Write to support@nyrami.com. We correct mistakes as quickly as we can and update the date on the guide.
The app and independence
Nyrami also makes a free app. The guides mention the app where it can help, but the advice stands on its own and applies whether or not you use the app.
There are no advertisements on the website, and nobody has paid to be mentioned in the guides.
Not a replacement for your doctor
The content is general information and does not replace examination, diagnosis or treatment. Talk to your doctor before you change your diet, fluids or medicines.
With chest pain, shortness of breath, an irregular pulse, confusion, or if you are hardly passing urine, call your local emergency number (113 in Norway).
