It started with Cristian.

Cristian Velasquez was diagnosed in 2003. He has lived with kidney disease for more than twenty years since, with many years of dialysis and two kidney transplants.

His sons, Marcus and Andreas, grew up with it at close hand. The family's experience has shaped Nyrami.

Questions and answers

What people ask us most often.

What is Nyrami?

Nyrami is a Norwegian platform for people living with kidney disease, or at risk of it. It is made up of a free app with a food scanner, your values, recipes and training, the kidney guide with articles about the disease, an eGFR calculator and a pledge for finding kidney disease earlier.

Does Nyrami cost anything?

No. Nyrami is free to download and use. Nyrami Pro is a voluntary subscription where the whole amount goes towards running and developing the app and towards the fight against kidney disease. As a thank-you you get the Ask Nyrami assistant. Everything else is free.

How is kidney disease found early?

With two simple tests: creatinine in the blood, which gives an eGFR estimate, and albumin in the urine. Both are taken at your GP. Because kidney disease rarely causes symptoms before kidney function is greatly reduced, the tests are the only way to find the disease early.

Does Nyrami replace my doctor?

No. Nyrami is a support tool, not a healthcare service. The app makes no diagnosis and gives no individual medical advice. It helps you understand your numbers and ask better questions at the clinic. Never change treatment based on the app alone.

What does the food scanner do?

You hold the camera to the barcode on a grocery product, and Nyrami reads what is in it: potassium, phosphorus, sodium and protein, assessed for your stage and your numbers. The answer comes in plain words: enjoy it, go a little carefully, or choose something else.

Which languages does Nyrami come in?

Norwegian, English and Spanish. The app follows the language on your phone, and you can switch whenever you like. The website nyrami.com is available in the same three languages.

Who is behind Nyrami?

Nyrami is made by Avia Technologies AS in Steinkjer, Norway. You can reach us at support@nyrami.com.
