About Nyrami

Nyrami is knowledge, tools and a shared effort for people living with kidney disease, and for people at risk. It is shaped by a family that has lived with kidney disease for more than 20 years.

More than 20 years of kidney disease, in one family.

Cristian Velasquez was diagnosed with glomerulonephritis in 2003. Since then he has been on dialysis for about nine years in all, received two new kidneys and been through kidney cancer twice.

His sons Marcus and Andreas grew up with a father who was seriously ill. Today Marcus is founder and chair and Andreas COO of Tech Norway, the company that built Nyrami. Cristian is a senior adviser.

What he learned over the years is in everything we make: it is easier to look after your health when you understand it.

“Increase quality of life, not just length of life.”

Chronic kidney disease affects more than 850 million people worldwide and more than 500,000 in Norway, and most do not know it. We build the knowledge and the tools that make it easier to understand the disease, follow your own health and make good everyday choices.

Knowledge, tools and a shared effort

  • Hands around a cup of tea by a window

    The kidney guide

Answers to what people with kidney disease ask about the disease, the test results and food. The sources are under every article, in Norwegian, English and Spanish.

  • A hand holding a phone with My numbers in the Nyrami app

    The Nyrami app

Food assessed for you, your numbers over time, and recipes and exercise that suit your kidneys. Free on iPhone and Android.

  • Two people walking side by side, seen from above

    The pledge

Most people with chronic kidney disease do not know they have it. Sign that more people should get the two simple tests at their GP in time.

How we work

Sources you can check
What we write is based on Norwegian and international guidelines, such as the Norwegian Directorate of Health, the Norwegian food composition table and KDIGO. The sources are under every article.
Written for the people living with it
We explain why, not just what, so you can make good choices together with your doctor.
Your data is yours
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share health data for advertising. You can delete your account and everything in it from the app.
Guidance, not diagnosis
Nyrami does not replace your doctor. We help you understand the numbers and ask better questions at your check-up.

More than the kidneys

Kidney disease is tied to diabetes, the heart and blood pressure, and it affects everything from food to mood. That is why our mark has many colours, one for each theme.
